At the end of January an external review team visited Shoshone Alternative High for two days. The team interviewed teachers, students and adminstrators and observed classroom instruction and student engagement. The team recommended SAHS for national accreditation. It means the standard of education being received at the Alternative school is as good as or better than other high school across the country.
Currently, the Alternative High School has 20 students enrolled, 4 part time certified teachers and a praprofessional working with the students. Students are required to meet the state graduation requirements and complete a career based senior project.
Recently, the staff started a Alternative Solution newsletter. It is produced monthly to highlight students and upcoming events for the High School.
If you are interested in more information about the alternative school please contact the high school office. We are very proud of the program and students involved.

What's Happening in the classroom
In English!
The 8th graders just finished a successful unit on The Outsiders. The kids really enjoyed the book, and we are excited to see their final projects.
The 10th graders are woking hard on their first research paper using MLA formatting. They're getting a taste of what college papers will look like.
7th grade Geography!
Geography students researched the Three Gorges Dam in China. It is the worlds largest hydroelectric project found on the Yangtze River (3rd longest in the world). They used iPads to find the information and then wrote a 4 paragraph paper contrasting the human and environmental costs and benefits of the immense dam project.
